Shawn of the Dead, Really?

Not my cup of tea, and especially not during my dinner.

I can think of more appealing shows or sports to watch on TV at the moment.

Although to I am not a SF Giants fan and Detroit has a lot of work to do to turn this World Series around to being in their favor, I would rather be watching that than this.

I’m not into scary movies, in fact I have never seen Rosemary’s Baby or The Exorcist, but I remember when those movies came out in the early 70’s. And I won’t ever watch them.

Anyway, I took today off from work because I have to be in court, in L.A. Tomorrow morning at 8am. I won’t say why here, but I am hoping it goes well.

Started off my day right by attending church, then came home made pancakes for the kids, because that’s their special treat on Sundays and took a good 2-3 hour nap. I have been more tired and wiped out this week, so I am glad that I had the opportunity to get some rest.

My two younger children have been sick with a cold for the past few days, so they actually stayed home this Morning and will have tomorrow off also to get well.

Meanwhile I am still sneezing my way through allergies that tend to get worse with every passing year, and I am finding that others are having the same issues even though they take prescription meds for theirs.

That should tell you how crappy our meds ate getting to be, or that the world around us is becoming more of a germ bag.

Anyway, I am going to enjoy my chicken wing and get on with my evening.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. My schedule at work is so very topsy-turvy and its not making me a very happy camper. The next two weeks are going to be a series of screwiness. I don’t like change, because that usually comes at my expense in the form of less $$ on my paycheck which affects my home life.

And with the price if everything going sky high these days ( thank you Obama) it is getting harder to make ends meet.

So I’m all for the holidays to kick in at Diz, I’m just hoping that my work weeks get back to normal.

Halloween Time

It seems like I am always blogging on my Thursday of the week or my day off.

It has been extremely busy at Disneyland over the past couple of weeks as we are really getting into the Holidays( well not really) as Halloween is just around the corner, isn’t it?

My kids have decided ( at least I think they have) on going to the alternative night at the church instead on Halloween instead this year. We allowed them to make this decision, that they couldn’t complain when they didn’t go trick-or-treating. And I am perfectly fine with this as the prices of costumes have shot through the roof and we am no longer able to afford that in our budget.

We were busting up laughing at the fact that costumes back in my day came in a box with a mask and a plastic smock, and what did my parents pay for this? 2.00 which I’m sure 45 years ago was a hardship for them. As we grew though my Gram would sew our costumes for us. One year I was a pilgrim and once I was a tiger… But long gone are the days of imagination. I miss those days, don’t you?

So yeah, I’m looking forward to our alternative experience this year.

This hits the nail on the head for me. In my LOB at Diz I often experience the non stop barrage of disrespect and rudeness. It is sometimes hard to see past that and be courteous, but I find that in doing so it makes others snap out their self absorption and allows me to be the victor.

Grandmother Musings

Last Halloween I sent Lynn a book.  Within a week, she had sent a note to say Thank you, and by Thanksgiving, she mailed a long letter telling me how much she enjoyed the book.  Now, this may not seem earth shattering in and of itself, but it does prove that even in these hectic times, some souls still possess a gracious courteous heart.

What is a courteous heart, you ask?  Manners, breeding, decorum, savoir-faire all define courteous.  A quality that is so often missing in our society, but one that Lynn possesses.  Her courteous heart often refers to the gift I gave her five years ago.  I do not remember what it is I gave her, but she does.  It is her repeated gratitude over my kindness that illustrates her genteel manner.

The courteous heart can do everything beautifully from allowing shoppers with fewer items ahead…

Ho Hum Dum

Another two days off have come and gone. I’d like to say I’ve gotten a lot accomplished in the 48+ hours I’ve been home, but I haven’t.

I haven’t been feeling very well since late Sunday night, which really if you think about it was early yesterday morning. Which ducks I might add. The weather has turned cooler and my stomach is filled with hot chicken soup and Stuffin’ muffins, but with the sporadic bouts of energy and body aches I am not looking forward to being at work tomorrow.

Back From Church

Snacking on some cheese and crackers to ready the fullness in my stomach to bring on my sleepiness for a nap before work.

Last night was crazy, 60,000 guests in just Disneyland alone. Holiday time is what we look forward to as we get more hours, but the fatigue in our bodies and minds is a bit overwhelming, even for the most seasoned Cast Member.

Thankfully tomorrow and Tuesday are my days of rest. I truly need them.

What A Sight!!!

Captured a picture today that is a rare sight in our neck-of-the-woods.

It happened that there was a flock of Vultures hunting our hills today for lunch.

Out of several pictures I shot, the one that is posted of the two vultures is the best one I got.
